This page renders the same English terms of use as the main terms page, without requiring JavaScript.
Key Carpool, operated by StartIQ LLC, is a scheduling tool for private groups who share rides — families driving to school and activities, and equally a team, colleagues or a one-off outing. Where children ride, the adults in the group are responsible for them and for the details entered about them. By using a pool link, you agree to these terms.
What Key Carpool does
A pool manager sets up the families, kids, pickup points and times. Key Carpool assigns driving days fairly, lets families swap, cover or give away days, and keeps a record of who drove.
Key Carpool does not provide transportation, verify drivers, or take part in any ride. Each family is responsible for its own driving, vehicles, insurance and the children it carries.
Text messages (SMS)
Program: Key Carpool carpool notices. Members who opt in receive transactional text messages about their pool: driving reminders, swap and cover requests, confirmations, driver status updates and a weekly preview. Messages are sent only to people who asked for them, at the number they gave.
Consent: only you can opt in, for your own number, by ticking a box that starts unchecked next to the full program wording under Pool → Edit my contacts in the app. A pool manager entering your number does not opt you in, and no carpool notice is texted to a number until its owner has done so. The date, language and wording version of your confirmation are stored with your contact. Text alerts are optional; you can create and use a carpool without them. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
Frequency: varies with your pool’s activity. Message and data rates may apply.
Stop: reply STOP to any carpool notice to stop all Key Carpool carpool notices to that number. Reply START to resume. Reply HELP for help, or contact h@keycarpool.com. Spanish keywords BAJA, ALTA and AYUDA are also supported. You can also turn off individual kinds of messages in the pool’s Info screen.
Sign-in codes: if you choose Sign in by text, Key Carpool sends one one-time code to the mobile number you type, only when you ask for it, to confirm the number is yours and open the pools where that number is already on file for your family. This is a separate purpose from carpool notices: requesting a login code does not change your ride-alert consent or opt-out settings, and implies no consent to any other message. Codes are delivered through Twilio Verify to the mobile numbers of the countries the sign-in screen lists as supported — set per environment by the operator rather than fixed by this page; message and data rates may apply, and provider or carrier restrictions can still block delivery of a requested code. Reply HELP to any Key Carpool text or contact h@keycarpool.com for help. Each request is recorded (the number, the wording shown, its version, the time and the purpose) and kept for two years.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and device.
WhatsApp messages
Key Carpool also runs on WhatsApp, from the business number listed in the app. It carries the same carpool notices as the text-message programme, and you can write to it in plain words to ask who drives, ask for your carpool’s page, request a swap or cover, or change what you hear about.
Consent: only you can choose Key Carpool WhatsApp ride alerts for your number. After reading the displayed consent, select “Create & turn on ride alerts”, “Join & turn on ride alerts” or “Request to join with ride alerts”, or agree in your contact preferences. Simply signing in, opening an invitation or a manager entering your number does not opt you in. You can use the pool without alerts. WhatsApp consent is separate from SMS and is not consent to promotional marketing. Reply STOP on WhatsApp to stop; creating or joining a pool does not override an existing STOP.
Stop: reply STOP on WhatsApp to stop Key Carpool messages there, and START to resume. That applies to WhatsApp alone and leaves your text-message settings exactly as they were. Saying in the chat that you want no more messages does the same thing. Asking to stop your reminders is different: it switches off the optional reminders and leaves change requests from other families coming.
People who have not joined a pool can ask for public information and help getting started. Private pool information and actions require a number authorized for that pool; knowing its name or link does not grant access.
How it works: WhatsApp delivers your message through Meta and Twilio. To answer, we send your words, relevant recent conversation and authorized carpool context to Anthropic directly or, for text processing when configured, through OpenRouter to the selected model provider. Binary attachments are processed directly by Anthropic. A proposed schedule change still needs your confirmation.
Accounts and access
Members sign in with a phone code, not an email or member password. Owner and manager access is explained below. After a code by text confirms your mobile number you are asked once for your name and an email address; the name is required and the email is optional and may be skipped, and those details are yours rather than any pool’s, and the same ones are used in every pool that number is in. The email is a way to reach you and nothing more: it is never verified, it signs nobody in, it recovers no access, it subscribes you to nothing, and providing it does not subscribe you to marketing emails. Acting as a family requires a one-time code texted to a mobile number your pool already has on file for your family. The pool code your manager shares opens the joining screen and no longer identifies you as a household on its own. Calendar feed addresses copied before this changed continue to work until the pool’s feed key is changed.
Organizing a pool: the person who creates a pool is its owner. The owner lists managers by name and mobile number in the pool’s manager roster and may remove them at any time, which ends their access at once. A listed number gains its role only after a code by text confirms it; a family’s contact number never grants manager access by itself. The owner can link their own number the same way. Until the owner turns on phone sign-in for managers, a shared manager password also opens the manager area; turning it on retires that password for good. The owner password always remains as the recovery door, and the owner may change passwords, visibility and delete the pool.
External AI apps are optional. Connecting one authorizes Key Carpool to provide the read-only carpool information shown on the permission screen for the pools you select. You can revoke access in Account → Connected apps. The external app’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to its handling of information it receives.
Acceptable use
Use Key Carpool only for the carpool it was set up for. Do not enter phone numbers of people who did not ask to be contacted, and do not use the pool to send anything other than carpool notices.
Changes and contact
These terms may change; the date above shows the current version. Contact StartIQ LLC at h@keycarpool.com, or at 200 Crandon Blvd, Suite 315B, Key Biscayne, Florida 33149, USA.
Responsible use and language
The service is intended for adults coordinating rides. Parents or guardians should authorize the information entered about their children. Record whether a child is riding; a diagnosis, medical document or reason for an absence is not needed. Do not upload sensitive information that is unnecessary for arranging a ride.
The assistant uses AI and can make mistakes. Review dates, people and pickup details before confirming a change. It is not an emergency service. A language option does not guarantee service or message delivery in every country. These terms and their translations do not limit rights that applicable law makes mandatory.
